Emergency Alerts

You should have multiple methods of receiving emergency alerts that can wake you up if you are sleeping. Do Not rely solely on the Outdoor Warning Sirens.   


Calhoun County offers a FREE alert system called Everbridge. Everbridge will send an alert through a phone call to any landline or cell phone number, and a text message or email. To sign up for Everbridge go to WEBSITE


Calhoun County offers another FREE alert system called Nixle. Nixle will only send a text or email alert or notification. To sign up for Nixle text CalhounEMA to phone number 888-777. 


NOAA Weather Radio:

NOAA Weather Radios can be purchased at most retail stores. The code to program your radio for Calhoun County is 001015. If you need assistance programming your radio call our office 256-435-0540.

Outdoor Warning Siren:

Calhoun County has 108 outdoor warning sirens. The outdoor warning sirens are only designed to notify you if you are outside. The outdoor warning sirens will only sound during a Tornado Warning and ONLY the sirens located within the Tornado Warning Polygon will sound. (EXAMPLE: if there is a Tornado Warning for Jacksonville only the sirens located in Jacksonville will sound)
