- Governor Kay Ivey extends Public Health Order
Today, Governor Kay Ivey held a joint press conference with Dr. Scott Harris to provide an update on their COVID-19 efforts at 11:00am. The current order, including the statewide mask mandate, will be extended until December 11th at 5pm. There has been some changes regarding restaurants, retail stores, and close contact businesses. - Calhoun County COVID-19 - Testing Site
The Alabama Statewide Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program and the Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency, through the Calhoun County Unified Command, have partnered with the City of Jacksonville and Civil Air Patrol to provide a community COVID-19 drive thru testing site Wednesday, November 4th. This will be a drive-thru test site that is free to the public. The tests are provided by University of Alabama Birmingham and will be a self-administered test. You do not have to have symptoms to be tested at this site. The details are below: Location: Jacksonville Community Center Address: 501 Alexandria Rd. Calhoun County has seen an increase in the number of new cases per week for the last 3 weeks. Our PERCENT POSITIVITY has also increased from 11% last week to 13%. Increase in hospitalizations and staying around the mid-30s

- Calhoun County - Rise in COVID-19 Numbers
HOSPITALIZATIONS As of today, 10/27/2020, there are 37 people in the COVID-19 units at Regional Medical Center. 11 people were admitted just over the weekend. There has been a steady increase in the number of hospitalizations since October 1st with 18 COVID-19 positive patients to now 37 causing the hospital to reopen their COVID 2 unit to house the influx of patients. NEW CASES PER WEEK This is also accompanied by an increase in number of new cases per week. Our "weekly" data is from Monday to Sunday. Calhoun County has been experiencing an increase for the past 3 weeks. For the month of October, Calhoun County has been averaging 32 new cases per day which can be compared to July (38) and August (33) when our previous peak in Calhoun County occurred. *NOTE* Last week, the Alabama Department of Public Health processed a large number of COVID-19 cases from between April and September (majority rapid antigen tests). They were added to Friday, October 23rd on the dashboard, which increased our 14 day totals on the dashboard. However, because these positive tests did not actually occur in the last 14 days, they are not included in the Calhoun County EMA data shown above. Actual new cases for October 23rd were gathered via our ADPH Regional Coordinator. POSITIVITY RATE The positivity rate is the number of persons tested positive compared to the total number of persons positive. The positivity rate has increased from 9.2% at the end of September to 11% as of 10/17/2020. Each Friday this rate is updated here: ADPH Risk Indicator

- COVID-19 Numbers Reporting Change
Since the beginning of COVID-19 Calhoun County EMA has only reported CONFIRMED case numbers and has not included PROBABLE in the total count. Alabama Department of Public Health has recently changed the definition of PROBABLE case to include persons tested by rapid antigen tests and has begun to combine CONFIRMED and PROBABLE to get a total countywide counts. Starting on 10/1/2020, Calhoun County EMA will begin reporting TOTAL Case Count which combines both the CONFIRMED and PROBABLE cases numbers.
